Foundation year work

friend: so after one yr in lasalle., can you make me a shirt?

me: er, no. i 've yet to start on my fashion course. it's all about visual studies in my foundation year

friend: visual studies? wad do you do?

me: it's mostly the basic of everything, building our foundation to see where our strengths n weaknesses are. plus visual studies meant learning how to communicate our ideas visually (in our drawings etc)

now the work of a student who got 40 something % upon 100%'s, lucky enough to be given a just pass. me.

LINO WORKSHOP
draw.

carve out on the rubber surface.

make multiple prints using rollers n a certain kind of paint. but i lost e whole stack. this is using normal paint.

SILKSCREEN

yes, using silkscreen n silkscreen paint. drawing n cutting e design. it's for t-shirts etc, if u dont know.

CLAY WORKSHOP

we go around getting inspirations from surfaces in sch (dustbin, car wheel, hose)
create new designs/patterns. (20pieces)
kneed n use equipment to mould the clay into tiles
dig our design on it.

each tile took me 4 hours. (10pieces)

and a final globe piece which i threw away.

PLASTER WORKSHOP
super dirty n messy. but it's one of my fav.

INTERNAL DRAWING

hardly turned up for tis class. so it explains the work n it's quality.

blind drawing, we drew the object without looking at our own paper. trains the eye n hand coordination.

ink painting of my sis. haha!

charcoal figure of my sis slping.

random figure drawings
half of my dad, because he refuse to let me draw his fats around e tummy! spoiler.
the rest of e work are too messy n experimental so i wont put it up.

EXTERNAL DRAWING

angsana seed

a piece of leaf

chilli (too dark)

a plain leaf, abit too dark as well.

colour pencils drawing outside plaza singapura, the coffee bean.
perspective drawing at vivo city's roof.
perspective drawing at emerald hill.
a not too good attempt on the esplanade's glass lift.
3/4 completed charcoal drawing of the sch's canteen
using colour pastels to show the fore, mid n background at xiao gui lin. we,re suppose to use that many colours. i know you wont understand.
water hose
using chinese ink, rocks in sch.

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

taken using a self-made camera using a shoe box.

3D WORKSHOP

my shoe made up of wires. involves more than 30hours + many injury. later on we made our own head out of wires as well. didn get a photo of it. flattened.

making a structure using only these papers, slotting method. no glues etc allowed.
that's e structure. but i hate it, takes too much time and it keeps falling apart when ur lecturer throws it from a height to test its stability. we kept redoing it when it falls apart.

my laughing doll. bought the sound producing electronic to insert into it.

my recycled bunny. did that for fun only.

shoe i did with raffia string 2 hours be4 my finals. it looks raw i know. last min work..
group project. tis whole structure is made without using glue, masking tape etc. we had to use sticks n slotting method to join e edges. even e ball rolling through has to be self-made.

2D WORKSHOP

my precious 7hr colour chart. yes, i sat there 7 hours straight. we have to blend it to the perfect shade for each row. it's still not perfected yet.
some of you have met ally-phant before.
and when you disfigure ally-phant into a composition. INCOMPLETE!

grid motorcycle.
african kid. heh. jus for fun.

i still have the fashion designing which i wont put up because it consist of too many pages. plus i cant find the book NOW.

some explorative works.

1000 word essayS.

presentations n research on artists/ designers.

so to be a A student here. the amount of work you need to do is 10times the amount and quality. not forgetting ur attendance, which they monitor closely.

oh and funny enough, we got to use maths' algebra and pythagoras's thm in our 3D classes to calculate angles n stuff. to think we always complain how is all these maths shit gonna be useful at all. HAH! MARGARET LOH!
